|
I didn't know where else to post this, but i've done it!
Tired of only using sims online? Want to have a sim on your desktop so you don't have to open a new tab and click that bedamned bookmark? Well, Install Speedsim!
First step, is to Download Darwine, you can find that here. It allows you to run .exe programs . A lot of .exes that you download will not work, but, this can!
http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/
Download that, just click on the giant red folder, or click Stable 1.0.1 which is right below the giant picture.
Open the .dmg, and drag the Left one, that says Darwine into your Applications folder, you can do the same with the one on the right, but it's more for installing fonts and stuff, and is not required.
Run Darwine, now, if it doesn't work, you will need to install X11. You can either install it off your Mac OSX CD, or download it and the update here.
X11 - Apple Website
And here, Update
Simply install it, it's relatively easy to figure out.
Darwine will now run.
Now, download Speedsim. I downloaded the one for 2K/XP/Vista
Speedsim Download Page
Run the installer from your desktop, it should go without a hitch, just keep hitting next. After, if you try and run Speedsim, it will tell you that you are indeed missing that pesky MSVCP60.DLL . This is the harder part to do.
First off, download the .DLL from HERE!
Extract the folder. Now, open up WineHelper, it's in your Darwine folder in Apps.
You will want to go to the Winehelper menu at the top left, and click 'Configure Wine'
In the new window, click the Drives tab, you'll see a bunch of letters and words, this is going to tell us how to put our newfound .dll in it's rightful place.
See below, my rightful place can be found in /Users/Lamneth/.wine/drive_c. Write this down, or copy it into your clipboard, or just remember it.
The only difference between mine and yours should be the part after /users/ and before /.wine/. . But, it could be completely different. You will not be able to see this .wine folder, even if you search for it, so, do this.
Open up a new Finder window. Hit Command + Shift + G It'll ask you to enter a location. Enter in what you wrote down, I typed /Users/Lamneth/.wine/drive_c
Go into Program Files > Speedsim
Now, drag your downloaded msvcp60.dll into here. Not the whole folder, just the single file. Speedsim should now run just by clicking the Speedsim.exe in this folder.
Now, while we're here, we're going to make Speedsim a little easier to access.
Control + click on Speedsim.exe, and hit Make Alias
Drag this thing that says Speedsim.exe alias onto your Desktop, into your bar at the bottom, whatever. Whenever you click this, Speedsim will appear. You can rename this as you see fit. Make sure it's the Alias though, otherwise you'll have to just drag it back. hah.
You may not have all the file extensions showing, which is alright, the files will still exist, just as Speedsim, instead of Speedsim.exe etc.
In order to copy a espionage report, you will have to copy it into your clipboard, and then Control click in the Read field. command v will only make funky sounds.
Questions? Post or PM. Mods, if this is in the wrong area, you can move it. _________________ Yes. |
